Welcome to Torre Guaceto.

Torre Guaceto, a nature reserve north of Brindisi.
Guaceto comes from the Araibic word Gawsit: land of fresh water. It is divided into three zones:

-Zone A is a full protection area. Here is allowed only scientific research and, with permission, marine excursions are possible;
-Zone B is a partial protection area. It extends north of the tower and bathing/swimming is permitted;
-Zone C is a partial protection area. It extends South to Apani and bathing/swimming is permitted but only with permission.

Now follow me along this long path, about 3 km stopping at the tower.
I will show you some typical plants that grow here: Look at this plant: it is the thyme; the thyme has got healing properties: it help the digestive system, stimulates the immune system and improves the acne problem.
Look at this another plant: the wild fennel. It is a very common herbal tea use for digestive problem and moreover it is particularly used to spice up food.
This plant is Myrtle: it is flower, leaves and berries are essential for pharmaceutical and cosmetics usage. Through the beriies you can produce the famous liqueur of myrtle.
A very beautiful view is the field of green and yellow oats are used to creste a variety of skin products moisturize, soothing and protective effects. SEA AND MARINES SPECIES: many tourists from England, Germany, America an dlocal people visit Torre Guaceto for its beautiful beaches. they are white and sandy, tehe sea is clear and light blue. The typical marine species are sea horses, mussels, crabs, jelly fish, resfish and eels. There is a protective spot surrounded by rocks: sea turtles lay eggs here and marine biologists study and do researches about theme. MARSH: Another protected area is the marsh is inhabitated by amphibians and birds. frogs, ducks and falcons. The marine reeds cover the marsh and protect the species. Just some quick information about the tower. The defensive tower was used as a military basement and army depot during the firts world war. You can do many fun activities in Torre Guaceto: walking, trekking, mountainbiking, cross country, house riding, swimming and snorkelling only in some areas.
